Traditionally, therapy is face-to-face, in our native language and on a weekly basis. But, in our frantic times, these three things are not always possible at the same time. Maybe you live abroad and no psychologists in your area speak your native language. Maybe your job keeps you in constant movement, without the time to stay in the same area and complete a therapy process. Maybe you have mobility issues which stop you from seeking (or make it harder to seek) face-to-face therapy, or you are experiencing psychological difficulties that make you prefer online therapy as a format. Or maybe you just prefer online therapy because of some of the advantages it offers: flexibility, convenience and privacy. To date, clinical research [1] [2] [3] indicates that video-conferencing psychotherapy is as effective as face-to-face psychotherapy.
How does online psychotherapy work?
After scheduling the first session, a link will be sent to you via email. This link will grant you access to the session at the scheduled day and hour. The platform I use (Zoom) is confidential and secure. The only thing you need is a computer with a reliable Internet connection or, alternatively, a tablet or a smartphone. Besides that, there are not great differences between a face-to-face session and an online video-conferencing session.
How can I make a booking with you?
Just send me an email through my contact form. I will send you all the information you will need to use my online calendar to confirm your first appointment with me.
I live abroad and I am going through a difficult time, can you help me?
I have been working with migrants and expats for years, and I have lived and worked outside my country (and culture) for years myself. I do understand the difficulties of the process. Maybe this article on migratory grief and cultural difficulties will be useful for you. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
